Abstract
Brown and black
Coffee and art marker on canvas (canvas stapled around edge of frame, not gallery wrap)This is only the second publicly sold piece by this artist, whose known works include Silverladder, the Silverladder ARG, The BadScaryPlace HTML sculpture, and the Voices In The Static and Hallucinine works of chaotic fiction. This painting is hand signed and titled on the back portion of the canvas frame.

Artist Statement: I created this piece in 2004, during the beginning of what was an incredibly turbulent time for me. College was a full five years behind me and I was fully immersed in "the real world." This painting was one of many attempts to escape just that. The confines, rigid lines and boxes formed by the black art marker are at odds with the freedom and chaos of the coffee stain painting. The structure manages to contain the unruly portion somewhat, yet it still bleeds beyond the borders in a number of places. This image is somewhat of a metaphor for what I was dealing with at the time, and beyond. I'm sure it reflects what many people have felt at various transitional times in their lives.
The coffee painting portion of this was certainly a new medium for me and not something I have attempted to duplicate since then.
This hung in my kitchen for a while at the famed Blue House on Orange, which was essentially the birthplace of Silverladder proper.
